When you come to the end of your rope, tie a knot and hang on. ~Franklin D. Roosevelt
Breaking a complicated or seemingly overwhelming task into smaller pieces can make it much more manageable. Don’t make your goals too broad or vague. Break them down into specific, achievable pieces and work through these in an organized and disciplined fashion. Before long, you’ll look up and realize you’ve climbed that mountain.
When working on personal development strive to achieve a high level of self discipline. Gain mental control over your physical cravings. Overcome your basic urges, such as gluttony, lust or sloth. Being able to control your desires and restrain your urges will keep you from harming your mind and your body.
Understanding that you are worthy of the best will help you to reach your personal development goals. With persistence, patience and hard work, you will soon reach your initial goals. Think of your personal development as a lifestyle change and continue making new goals for yourself. The number one rule when you’re trying to make your personal development a high priority is to learn to listen to your body. Never allow yourself to become dehydrated or overly hungry. By doing that, your body will perform better later on in the future. If you disregard your body’s intelligence, you might find in the future that it will not be able to take care of you.
You should make personal development goals as defined as possible with specific ways to achieve them. Realistic and specific goals allow you to create a better plan to achieve those goals. Specific goals give you a way to measure your progress. It’s possible to teach yourself how you can deal with difficult situations without becoming too emotional. Learning to relax during stressful situations will allow you to be a more confident person. Take a moment and remember to breathe.
You really have to put yourself first in order to be of any help to anyone else, and accept that you will never be able to please everyone. This doesn’t mean you should place your own preferences above those of everyone else; however, you should take your happiness and your own opinion seriously and take good care of yourself. If you engage in actions and activities that are in line with your morals and beliefs, you will feel good about the personal development path that you are on. Make sure you treat all people with respect, no matter who they are, how powerful they are or what benefits you can obtain from them. Treating people badly as a matter of principle reflects a bad personality on your part rather than theirs.
Whether or not a person can make things happen for you, you must treat everyone with respect and gratitude. The way you behave around others is highly indicative of your own character.
